Water and Chemical Damage to WashersThis month I will talk about damage to washers caused by leaking or damaged water and chemical lines. Inspect your washer daily to check for water and chemical leaks. If you have a chemical leak, ask your chemical representative to quickly make the repairs. Leaky chemicals are corrosive, can cause your machine to rust and can damage parts in the machine such as water valves and electronics. Water leaks at the door seal, at valves and at drains can cause the same kind of damage and can cause shorts in the machine. Water can short out circuit boards, damage water valves, drain valves, and control fuses. Leaking water can rust out your machine very quickly. Take a look at these pictures to see what can happen. Photos show chemical and water damaged rear-mounted supply chute, damaged shell mounted supply inlet and severe water damage and rusting on a machine bolt down base. (The damage to the washer frame was so severe the washer had to be replaced.)
