MCC Service Tips

Excessive Lint: The Great Enemy: Do You Need Secondary Lint Filtration?

Lint is the omnipresent enemy in any laundry. Regular preventative actions to minimize its accumulation are crucial to maintain optimal operation and minimize the risk of dryer fires.

  • Dryer lint screens should ideally be cleaned after approximately every 4 hours of use.
  • If the lint screen or filter has any holes in it or is not attached to the frame properly, it should be replaced.
  • Excess lint in the lint compartment/lint drawer and in the burner compartment/oven must be routinely removed.
  • With power at the breaker OFF, vacuum the entire lint compartment once a week. Clean the fan blades at the same time.
  • The burner box should be vacuumed once a month.

If you need extra support in your battle against lint, or with other preventative maintenance items for your laundry equipment, Minnesota Chemical is more than happy to assist your team either over the phone, or in person via service call. PM contracts of varying scopes and intervals are often a good solution. Call to set up one-time or regular service PM visits.

If you are doing all this and still find you have excessive lint accumulation, but have no room for a standard in-line filter, and you do not have compressed air available for such a filter, consider the easy solution:

Energenics Air-Free OPL Series Secondary Lint Filters

  • Operate completely free of added utilities
  • Range in capacities of 1,000 CFM to 10,000 CFM
  • Use gravity instead of compressed air to shed collected lint into a receptacle below
  • Offered in Standard (round), Flat-Mount (rectangular), and Duct-Mount (compact vertical) configurations
  • Only single-dryer model (Duct-Mount) that is self-cleaning

Energenics manufactures the most diverse selection of Air-Free lint collectors on the market today. Contact MCC service or sales for more information at 1-800-328-5689.

Parts Ideas From Barb

Spring Cleaning and Equipment Tune-Ups

To ensure you get the right part for your machine the first time, please remember:

  1. Have your model and serial number on hand when you call me.
  2. If you happen to have any manuals for the machine, having them handy when you call is often helpful in case clarification is needed.
  3. I recommend that the person working on the machine call themself—since that person best understands the situation and how to explain it—having someone else order it may produce errors or misunderstandings that lead to the wrong part being ordered.

As always, please contact me in the Minnesota Chemical Parts Department with any parts questions at (651) 288-4849.
