The Clean Show Comes to New Orleans

The Clean Show was held in New Orleans in June, home of Pellerin Milnor. Milnor hosted over 1,500 guests at its factory near the New Orleans airport. Visitors saw washers being
manufactured from 40# to 750# capacities as well as Continuous Batch Washing Systems (CBW®). They walked by huge rolls and sheets of stainless steel and saw them transformed into washers through punches, presses, laser cutters and automated welders run by CAD systems.

AL Wilson: Stain Removers for a Spotless Reputation

Jeff Schwarz is Territory Manager for AL Wilson, featuring stain remover solutions for laundries and dry cleaners. Jeff is the STAIN WIZARD and travels wearing a colorful lab
coat with identified stains that he can remove with AL Wilson products! AL Wilson SoGo 1 is an enzyme-activated digester/laundry stain removing detergent. SoGo 1 safely removes a wide variety of protein stains including food, blood, and grass.

The Stain Wizard Says:

’Tis the season. In my travels I have heard the expression: “Here we have 2 seasons – Winter and Road Construction!”

In the world of Drycleaning and laundry, the 2 seasons might be dealing with Santa Claus suits and perspiration stains. Let’s talk about the latter. Perspiration is a wet-side soluble stain, meaning it has to come out with the use of moisture/water. If the stain is old and heat set, removal can be difficult. Using the right tool is essential. A digester is the right tool. A digester is not a bleach, rather it uses live enzymes to break down the stain from an insoluble state to a soluble state. In other words, it breaks apart the bonds to allow safe removal of the stain.

If a customer comes into a cleaning plant with a Dry Clean Only comforter with cat urine on it, the first thing you need to do is get a release. Do Not tell the customer that you have to “wash it”. When the customer hears “Wash” they think they can process it at home which probably will not work. (Your biggest competition isn’t other cleaners, it’s the home washer & dryer.)

How to use a SOGO 1 Digester by AL Wilson:

The best way is using an ice chest or insulated cooler. Maintaining warm water temperature is key. Draw 3 gallons of 120-degree water and mix in SOGO 1 Digester. Let the stained area soak for approximately 1 hour or until the stain is gone. On a 3-year-old dried blood stain, one customer soaked the garment for 3 days and had success! Rinse well, let air dry, then dry clean if needed to get the feel (softness) back. All digesters are not the same. Liquid digesters lose their strength. Other powdered digesters have a small window of temperature in which they will work, and the powder can get into your nose and throat causing discomfort. Use AL Wilson SoGo 1 Digester. One jar will clean 100 lbs, and it never goes bad.

Huebsch Single Pocket & Stack Dryers—No Heat

If dryer runs but there is no heat, check to see if you are getting 24 or 120 volts from the switch in the fan motor- that wire is the tan or brown & white wire in the harness from the fan motor to the power box in the back of the dryer. When the dryer is calling for heat, is the red light ignition control board or Ignition Control Module (ICM) coming on? If not, ICM needs to be replaced. If the ICM is ok, check to see if you have spark at the igniter. If no spark, change the high voltage lead that looks like a spark plug wire. If your flame comes on for 10 seconds or less, change the high voltage lead. If you do have spark but no flame, check to see if you are getting power to the gas valve. If you have power, the valve may be bad. If you are getting power, gas and still no flame, your burner tubes may need to be cleaned. Clean them by removing them and rinsing in warm water.
