Service Tips from Ed Jensen

Standalone and Stacked Guest Laundry Equipment

Standalone and Single Washers and Dryers: When you install small chassis, light-duty commercial equipment in a guest laundry setting, it is important to remember to level the unit to minimize the chance it will go out of balance. When leveling these machines, place your level on the raised sides of the top panel.

Guest Washers: Running full loads in light-duty commercial washers is strongly encouraged, as it minimizes chances for out-of-balance situations. Some people find it helpful to include a sign near the washer if it becomes an issue. If laundry "pods" are used frequently in your guest laundry, it may also be helpful to include signage for customers, directing them to put pods in with the laundry itself rather than in the soap tray to prevent buildup and clogging in the soap tray and elsewhere in the machine from the pod casing remnants.

Guest Washer Maintenance: The soap tray should be taken out and cleaned at least once a week to minimize laundry product buildup. Similarly, clean the door seal every week; this will minimize debris from the loads being washed, minimize buildup and potential odors. Finally, always check your hoses for leaks and replace them after about 5 years of use and always keep an eye on the clean out of your drain pump.

Guest Dryers: Once a month, we recommend you clean the fan blade and all around the bottom inside the lower panel. Once a year, it is advised to clean the venting from the back of the dryer to the outside to ensure lint buildup does not clog the ductwork, impeding function of the dryer.
