Service Tips from Ed Jensen

Servicing Chicago Finishing
Equipment, Feeders, Ironers, Folders

Lubrication: Lubrication of chains is very important to help protect the chains from wear, rusting, and stretching. Be sure to clean up any excess grease as it attracts lint and soil.

Wearing of Mechanical Parts: Have a program to regularly inspect chains, pulleys, and sprockets for wear. Replace as needed to keep equipment operating at its best.

Ribbons: When replacing bad ribbons do not replace one or two at a time. Ribbons stretch so you must replace the full set or they will not ride properly. When replacing ribbons, be sure your hands are clean, so you don’t transfer grease or oil onto the ribbons - grease will transfer onto the linens.

Sensors: Inspect the sensors on the ironers, feeders, and folders for alignment, cleanliness, wear, and proper operation. Sensors “see” the linen as it passes so they must be kept clean and in proper operation and orientation or linens will not feed, iron, fold or stack properly.
