Coin Laundry Water Leaks & Drain Issues

Let’s start with the small washers. We get a lot of calls saying there is water on the floor in front of the washer. One potential culpreit: customers are putting pods in the soap dispenser drawer, which can lead to clogging issues. Pods need to go in the washer with the load or they will plug up the soap drawer. It is important to keep the soap dispenser clean and keep the siphons in the soap dispenser clean. Some customers have found it helpful to post signs in your laundry indicating proper pod use.

If your machine is not draining and you checked the drain valve, you should check the poly drain elbow at the back of the washer. Over time, these elbows can sometimes plug up.

Check the door seal on front load washers—are there holes? Inspect your water supply hoses, for cracks or bulges. Alliance recommends that hoses be changed every 5 years. For larger washers, it is important to keep the drain line clean from lint or anything else that can make its way through the machine.
